What are the must-see's in Texas?
We are taking a vacation from July 26-Aug 2. We'll be in the New Braunfels area visiting long-lost family. High on our to-do list is the Schlitterbahn and Six Flags (Over Texas or Fiesta Texas - can't decide, please help). Need to do The Alamo and The River Walk. Also considering Corpus Cristi and the Texas State Aquarium. We enjoy outdoor activities and anything thrilling/ exciting. What do you suggest we do in the great state of Texas? ... |

The Green Challenge is keeping me focused and planning to do so even during my vacation next week. I was getting a little worried but this morning my husband said to me that during our vacation let's plan to keep eating healthy meals and snacks that keep our pages green. This surprised me because usually vacation from home means vacation from healthy food. I'm the only one participating in the Green Challenge, so this was great news to my ears.
This trip is hubby's 29th anniversary present to me and we're going to Niagara Falls. We've been there many times when ... |

Today I managed to maintain control and log my food, even a fresh homemade mint jeulip. We went shopping at Fresh Market, so I did have a certain degree of control.
Tomorrow things will get difficult. This is a business trip. The company that we will be working with treats us really well with free breakfast (NOT continental) and lunch, which will be a huge hot buffet of really tasty food. Now I usually only have about 200 Kcal ... |

It’s getting warm and it’s just a matter of time before many of us will spend a week of our lives relaxing somewhere other than home. For my family, this means completely getting away from everything. When we leave town, we aim to escape it all: the phone, the television, most people and the modern noise that comes with them. We usually end up someplace in the mountains where two bars is the best you can expect on the cell phone and even to get that many you have to stand on one foot and hold your breath.
Long before ... |

conshygryl | My boyfriend and I are taking a long-awaited trip to Napa Valley in about 2 weeks time. The whole point of the vacation is to drink good wine and eat good food. And get in some hiking too. I was wondering how other NMers handle vacations? I will keep a written log and enter everything when I get back but I fear it will be really hard because how do you know how much sodium and fat is in restaurant food? Can I just take a break for a week and not worry about it? or just do my best ... |

ar_page | I start Marathon training today. I am very excited about the goals I have set to reach this year.
My goal weight is 130, so I have 29.4 pounds to lose. I am going to vegas on June 17th, so I made that my goal date. I would love to be able to sit by the pool and not worry about how I look in my bathing suit. I know I can do it.
Running statrts tomorrow, but I will try to get weights and some cardio in tonight.
Looking forward to all that is ahead! ... |

garcia | I am on a little mini-vacation visiting my husband's family. It has been a real challenge for me. These are some of the comments I've had to deal with since I am here:
"You are on vacation stop looking at the calories it doesn't matter"
"I could never live like this woman - looking at every label before she put something in her mouth, Oh my gosh!"
"What? it doesn't have a label? Oh no! I can't eat that."
(that one was said mocking me as if I had said it)
"Oh my GOSH! Lord forbid you eat the whole piece"

I came home and had a hard time getting green again and today I really blew it. First time (in the 6 months I have been with NM)I went over even my maintenance calories. I don't know what's up with that, I am going to think about my day and try to decipher why I chose what I chose and hopefully learn something from it. Tomorrow is a new day and I will get ... |

1greytmom | Boy, I missed you guys! However, Myrtle Beach was quite lovely as well.
I just got back from an event called Beachbound Hounds. I took Lily, my greyhound, and joined about 200 other hounds and their owners for 3 full days of sun, sand, seminars, shopping for cool, greyt items, and eating! The weather was fabulous, while at home, we got at least 3-4 inches of rain - hee hee. Missed that!

Miami was fabulous. It wasn't nearly as hot as I thought it would be. Spent 2 days at the beach and one day at the pool. And, yes, the beach was "au natural", and, yes, I was sans swimsuit. Oh my!
Even though I did make my friend take me to the grocery store when I arrived, as I ... |

I will have some access to a computer while in Miami, but none on the float trip. Funny thing is, while I won't have access to a computer on the float trip, I will have control over my food, 'cause we're pretty much bringing our own food. But, when in Miami, when I will have access to a computer, I won't have as much control over food choices. I may just ... |

So, I finally made it back from my month-long work trip. It is so good to be home! Don't get me wrong - I *love* Italy, the people, the wine, and the food (in that order). But it is so nice to be back with my family, sleep in my own bed, use a shower that is larger than 1 meter square, and know how the toilet flushes (finding the button, valve, lever, or cord is not as easy as it sounds!).
I didn't log the food I ate because it is so different from what we eat in the US ... |

Venison Roast (my favorite meal of the week)
Hello NM family! I have had a very relaxing week or so in the chilly but beautiful lakeside town of Colchester, VT. No television, no computers, not even a newspaper. . Even the cellular phone reception was lousy and unreliable. We truly got away from it all. It was wonderful.
We packed much of our own food and I began the week with paper logs and an abundance of exercise. I also swam/dove/snorkeled almost ... |

This week has been full of all kinds of fun including having a credit card (and a wee amount of cash) stolen out of my purse (which has made replacing my iPod nearly impossible), pushing all work tasks right up to deadlines and the icing on the cake was that my daughter Maya had to be taken to the ER last ... |

Anyway, I was looking for great walking trails. I'm sure the base is fine but nothing like an ocean view! I would love to walk the route for the walkathon but don't know my way around. I am back from a wonderful vacation in Cancun. The ocean was beautiful, but my eating was not. I definitely put some weight on while I was there, although I'm not sure yet how much is actual weight and how much is water weight because I'm sure my sodium as through the roof!
I didn't log while I was there. It don't think this was good or bad... It just was. I didn't have decent internet connection and I didn't want the stress of trying to remember everything I ate.

I was so afraid that I'd backslide and lose all of my hard work (and gain back those 5 pounds!) over spring break, but my boyfriend is really into healthy eating, so I think I might gain ground and lose weight this break rather than lose ground and gain weight!
This actually comes at a very opportune time, as my last week or so of logging shows a lot of red -- I guess after ... |
