| March 10, 2010, 5:00 pm My favorit nutrimirror feature! | To date, there are just so many great things about Nutrimirror. My favorite hands down is the detailed reflection analysis. When I get home from work I check my reflection analysis and see which macro and micro-nutrients I am lacking for the day. Then by clicking on the nutrients and browsing through the foods that are rich in those nutrients, I decide what to make for dinner.
I actually enjoy it. It's fun, and helps keep my diet healthy. Today I substituted white beans for half of the pasta that I would usually mix with our veggies and chicken sausage, which ... |

bassoonist | I've been looking for a website that has nutrition facts for fruits and veggies and I have finally found one: www.fruitsandveggiesmorematters.org Click on the button for "Fruit and vegetable Nutrition" towards the bottom. I can't believe I didn't find this earlier.
The nutrition facts listed for most fruits and vegetables are hard to decipher. I right-clicked the nutrition label, copied and pasted it onto a Word document and it was much easier to read.
Food for thought: Do you think Organic produce has higher vitamin/ mineral content? ... |

Natalie57 | How much do I want to lose this weight? How selfish am I not to share and to isolate and not share my failures and successes?
I joined in May, 8 months ago, lost a few pounds and then just gave up for awhile. I did a program to identify my emotional eating triggers and learned a breathing technique to regulate my heart rate, then I fell into a 2 month depression and prayed my way out of it.
I am back now with a new strategy. I am doing a nutritional cleanse program and was not losing any weight on that ... |

garcia | Don't look at food as something that adds pounds onto your frame. Food is FUEL. By fueling your body optimally will increase your energy levels, enhance the quality of your life, help you to get the most out of each of your days, and improve your hormone profile.
Start to view nutrition as your partner, your essential tool to optimizing your health. By not fueling the body properly, the environment created on the inside of the body is one of chaos. By not giving the body the correct fuel that it needs, it becomes catabolic or in breakdown mode.
When the body ... |

September 27, 2009, 8:46 pm This is easy!!!
kmcollier | I have never stuck to a diet before and hate being limited on what I can or can't have. I love having this help with my life style change. This is only day 5 for me on NM but I am seeing results. I weighed myself this morning and have already gone down .8 lbs. I am so thankful that I found NM and wish I would have found it before but then I don't know that I would have used it like I am now.
It is a real eye opener for me. I love seeing just how I am ... |

erinATX | Happy Sunday NM community! I hope you're enjoying yours as much as I'm enjoying mine.
I was wondering if any of you have any go-to sources for verifying nutrition/fitness information? For example, I was just trying to find some real deal support about chia sees and their hydration qualities. All I could find besides a few runners blogs was information directly linked to a store selling chia sees.
I often times use Mayo Clinic's site to look up recent articles but was hoping maybe some of you out there have some other suggestions.
Thank you in advance! I feel like ... |

swalley | Those of you who have been doing this longer than I probably already know this, but I thought I would share for those who don't.
I went to the Wendy's web site today to get nutrition information for the grilled chicken wrap. To my surprise, there was an option to "Personalize it!". This allows you to add or delete ingredients and get updated nutrition information. It is very user friendly. I deleted the cheese and added tomatoes and was able to print updated nutrition information. You can even add your side dishes to the meal and get nutrition information for your ... |

swalley | Forget the myths about the pot of gold or little green leprechauns. The real prize at the end of the rainbow is a green day (at least here at NM)!
Remember Roy G. Biv? That was the acronym we learned in school to remember the colors of the rainbow.... red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
I have learned that remembering these colors is a big key to success here at NM. The more of these colors you eat every day, the closer to green you will be. These colors are full of the vitamins and minerals our bodies ... |

tmcdermott | Seems to me that low cal salad dressings are yucky.....not even worth it. UNTIL NOW! I found one called "Galeo's" (I found this at QFC, which is owned by Kroger). Their Miso Caesar is AMAZING. It has a great mustardy tang to it and it is.....get this.....FOURTEEN CALORIES PER TABLESPOON!! Compared to most dressings which are about 50 or more for a tablespoon!!
Just wanted to share. It makes salad eating SO much more enjoyable. ... |

I picked up a magazine this weekend. The April issue of " More"
There was a small article about a new scoring system for foods.
In short it's a system that scores food for the nutritional value and is given a number between 1-100. The higher the number the better the nutritional value.
It's a system that they want to use in supermarkets to give the consumer an easier way to pick out the best food when you go shopping. But until the system gets ... |

tmcdermott | I answered this question for a fellow NM member and thought I'd share my two cents. I don't often have to eat fast food (stay at home mom), but I know it's the fastest, easiest, convenient and cheap way to eat lunch when you're working and on the go. I've been there too, however, I weighed about 30 lbs more than I do now too!
First, look up the websites in advance for the nutritional value of your food options and stash them in your car. That way you can drive thru and not have too much pressure on yourself to ... |

windvane | I've decided to take a few years (as it turns out) to help parents with a variety of health issues... due to both the aging process plus kidney failure, etc. Despite all best intentions and (I think, at least) a decent heart, this has been more trying than anything I've attempted.
(For your consideration: I went to Africa the first time to basically stop a fight - business thing... just to situationally calibrate severity a bit. That was easy by comparison.))

- Jack in the Box's Junior Bacon Cheeseburger
- Taco Bell's Cheesy Double Beef Burrito
- Burger King's Breakfast Sausage Biscuit
- McDonald's McDouble Sandwich
- Wendy's Junior Bacon Cheeseburger
Not having seen the actual report from the Cancer Project, though, I can't say what criteria they used to call the Junior Bacon |
