What is your favorite fruit or veggie?
bassoonist

In the "Bacon Lovers Anonymous" post (which is funny, you must read), witchmomma asked what our favorite meat is. Well, seeing how I don't eat meat, I'm curious what everyone's favorite fruit or veggie is?

Do you love fruits and despise veggies or vice-versa? Do you only like a few of each? Or do you eat nothing but, and have a very tough time deciding on your favorite (OK maybe that's just me......tee hee)

My favorite veggie at the moment is asparagus. I love it steamed, raw, grilled, however you slice it. My current favorite fruit is blueberries.

Please comment below! ...

Angelcots are YUM!!!
ninaolsen

I bought a "new" fruit called Angelcot today

It's a white apricot that's a hybrid between a Moroccan and Iranian apricot...at least that's what I was told.

It's really crispy and refreshing, and has a slight plum taste to it.

Apparently it's only in season for about a month so if you see it at your local market...check it out

( I just logged it as a "normal" apricot. ) ...

~Not all Fruit & Veggies Are Created Equal~
I have seen a bunch of posts and individual comments in the past week regarding fiber and difficulty obtaining it.

While I do not claim to be an expert on the topic of fiber, my home page shows a 150% fiber consumption for the two week period. Personally, I find my fiber in fresh fruits and fresh veggies, with some spelted grain carbohydrates (and yes, ancient grains) thrown in. If I choose to eat breads and/ or pastas, I try to opt for spelt or sprouted-grain varieties that have less processing and more fiber and protein than their white-flour cousins. ...

Guiltless pleasure
Guiltless pleasure

The title of this post comes directly from the Super Smoothies recipe book. The writers, Mary Corpening-Barber and Sara Corpening-Whiteford, certainly knew what they were doing when they came up with this sweet, tart, and rich smoothie.

Low calories, low fat, and with a nice kick of vitamin C, this drink is fab in the morning or as a snack.

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries, 1 cup (140 grams) -quartered
  • Light vanilla soy milk, 1/2 cup (106 grams)
  • Soft tofu, 1/3 cup (78 grams)
  • Banana, 1 medium size (96 grams) -sliced and frozen
  • Pineapple juice concentrate, 2 TB (30 grams)

Preparation

Slice banana before freezing it.

Combine strawberries, soy

Melon and Berries
Melon and Berries

On mom's final trip to the market Easter Sunday, she noticed the good looking blackberries (and they were priced right), so she grabbed a pack; she also picked up a cantaloupe and a lime. She told me that while at the market she didn't have anything in particular in mind for the fruit -they just looked good.

At home mom tasted the cantaloupe and it was perfection -great, it can be left alone.

The blackberries on the other hand... yowza! they were tart. Gotta come up with some way to mellow them out.

Honey will do the trick! A small amount (1

Overeating Better
I am a binge eater, which I hate to admit. My mind goes numb and I can't stop eating no matter how terrible I feel and how terrible I know I'll feel.

For example, two nights ago I ate the following from 11:00PM-2:00AM knowing that I would have school the next day.
~12 oz package of M&M's
~5 cookies
~10 bowls of frosted mini wheats
~1 gallon of milk
~red hots, candy corn, peppermints, and jelly beans by the handful
~1 bag (NOT snack size) of pretzels
~1 package of cinnamon sugar graham crackers

Bad!!! I decided that this would not happen anymore, even though it's been going on ...
