Please say it ain’t so!
OK. OK. Maybe because I’ve always hated Taco Bell anyway, the food literally turns my stomach. (I can eat real Mexican food with no problems, though). But this to me is insanity. Check out the sodium in one “diet” taco.

Lunchroom Woes
The smell of greasy take out wafts past my nose, and my stomach growls at me, begging me to go and stand in the lunch line take out lane. Not today Belly, not today. I pat my belly reassuringly, and then get up and go and take my home made packed lunch out of the office refrigerator.
There is nothing worse than sitting in the lunch room with your brown bag healthy lunch while other people hungrily scarf down burgers, milkshakes, fried chicken and fries.
I made the mistake today of agreeing to have lunch with a coworker ... |

LizAgain | When I read jesussaves' post about fast food it got me thinking. What is the healthiest fast food available that you all like? Post the nutritional data if you know it.
I like El Pollo Loco for their two piece leg and thigh meal at $3.99 (pulling the skin off myself and giving away the two tortillas - or maybe just keeping one) or their skinless grilled chicken breast meal (it's 4.99 I believe and does not come with tortillas). For the sides, if you order the mixed vegetables (order with no butter, they are really good and not mushy at ... |
continue reading 19 comments July 30, 2009, 6:24 pm Thank God for Boca Burgers... | So, it's one of those nights where my husband isn't getting home until 9:30, I need to go to the train station and pick him up, the dishes aren't washed, and I haven't eaten dinner. Last time this happened I went to McDonald's and seriously over ate.
So, I just went through the kitchen in a mad dash to find an alternative before I go out the door and submit to fast food. Thank God there are two packages of Boca burgers in the freezer! Pop one of those in the microwave and throw some low fat cheese, lettuce, and tomato ... |
continue reading 8 comments July 7, 2009, 11:00 am "Normal" people just don't understand...**RANT** | I spent last week on a mission trip rehabbing homes in the Appalachian mountains in Kentucky. I was worried about the food on the trip, but it turned out to be ok, what with working 10 hours a day on construction, the daily fare of cereal, fruit, PB&J, and whatever was for dinner was just about right. I did indulge in a little desert just about every night, but over-all I know I stayed well below maintenance calories. What turned out to be a nightmare was the two days of travel before and after the trip! 10+ hours in a ... |

MAD_SAD_MOM | I went to the local Athens (Greek) Kouzzina restaurant for lunch.
I ordered dolmades (herbed rice wrapped in grape leaves).
HOLY FIBER, BATMAN!!! My whole day's worth of fiber in just two little rolls.
I paired it with a greek salad and ice water.
YUM
For dinner we ate in the food court, which is normally the kiss of death to healthy eating, right?
Well, according to a website that quotes nutritional info for Hibachi-San Japanese, the teryiaki chicken bowl with steamed rice and stir-fry vegetables wasn't that "expensive" to my charts either....and that's WITH the sauce (which I left off in reality but the log ... |

swalley | Those of you who have been doing this longer than I probably already know this, but I thought I would share for those who don't.
I went to the Wendy's web site today to get nutrition information for the grilled chicken wrap. To my surprise, there was an option to "Personalize it!". This allows you to add or delete ingredients and get updated nutrition information. It is very user friendly. I deleted the cheese and added tomatoes and was able to print updated nutrition information. You can even add your side dishes to the meal and get nutrition information for your ... |

tmcdermott | I answered this question for a fellow NM member and thought I'd share my two cents. I don't often have to eat fast food (stay at home mom), but I know it's the fastest, easiest, convenient and cheap way to eat lunch when you're working and on the go. I've been there too, however, I weighed about 30 lbs more than I do now too!
First, look up the websites in advance for the nutritional value of your food options and stash them in your car. That way you can drive thru and not have too much pressure on yourself to ... |
continue reading 3 comments December 9, 2008, 8:50 am Top Five Unhealthful Foods | Dietitians with the nonprofit Cancer Project in Washington have analyzed the menus of national fast food chains and released a list of the five worst items on their menus. Try to avoid these at any cost — even if the cost is just one item on a dollar menu:
- Jack in the Box's Junior Bacon Cheeseburger
- Taco Bell's Cheesy Double Beef Burrito
- Burger King's Breakfast Sausage Biscuit
- McDonald's McDouble Sandwich
- Wendy's Junior Bacon Cheeseburger
Not having seen the actual report from the Cancer Project, though, I can't say what criteria they used to call the Junior Bacon |
