Katiebelle | So this is my first journal post. I discovered Nutrimirror about a week and a half ago now. I think I've been pretty good about logging my food and the reflection analysis has been pretty helpful in terms of showing me what I need more/less of in my diet, even if I'm meeting my caloric goals. Its interesting to me that I intake so much saturated fat. I used to be a vegan so of course I barely had any in my diet, and had lots of green leafy things in its place. I need to intake more iron which ... |

Subtitle: The Dieting Industry can KISS my BEHIND!
[Above: Pheasant Cordon Bleu eaten during weight loss last summer. Yeah, it was FRIED. But look at all those beautiful veggies. I enjoyed every wonderful bite!]

As we approach the release of the first NutriMirror Book, Balanced Days, Balanced Lives, I sincerely hope that with a window into the lives of some very successful NM members, folks are able to forever kiss the dieting industry behind.
Like many of you, I have done them all. I have been a vegetarian*, a low-carber, a low fatter, a non-eater, an over-exerciser, and an all-around fad ... |

smcginniss | So today for lunch (I work in NYC) I decided I was in a rut with my routine of alternating between salad and turkey sandwich/side salad. Was afraid I'd get bored and go back to burgers, pizza, Chipolte, etc...
So I tried this place called "Hale and Hearty" because from the street it looked good with healthy choices. I picked out the vegetable with mozzarella sandwich - 500 calories. Sounded good.
Sitting at my desk eating and I go online to find the nutrition info. 70 grams of fat!!!! What the heck? In a veggie sandwich? I blew my fat intake for ... |

kmcollier | Thank you all for your comments, I really do appreciate them. This is exactly what I have needed, the tools and a great support system. Thank you for the comment that suggested Black Strap Molasses, it has been on my list for when pay day rolls around but I was not sure of how it would taste. I hate the taste of milk so anything I can mix into it that is somewhat healthy is a huge plus. At my previous posting I was down .8 lbs and then when I weighed this morning I was down a total of ... |

kmcollier | I have never stuck to a diet before and hate being limited on what I can or can't have. I love having this help with my life style change. This is only day 5 for me on NM but I am seeing results. I weighed myself this morning and have already gone down .8 lbs. I am so thankful that I found NM and wish I would have found it before but then I don't know that I would have used it like I am now.
It is a real eye opener for me. I love seeing just how I am ... |

cocorhum | Had to share this. I read this in the July Guidepost last night. A lady who struggled with food addiction developed this acronym from the word D.I.E.T- Do I Eat This?
Since I'm going to be surrounded by so may temptations this weekend, it's just another point to focus on- so now I have three:
1. Wore a size 16 no W behind the size last week
2. Car with sticker read- "Green Is Good"
3. Now D.I.E.T- Do I eat this?
Google her story or find a Guidepost and read it. I'm going to travk her down and share NM.
Gotta run! ... |
continue reading 4 comments May 26, 2009, 3:25 pm I must be doing something right... | I was plateau'ed for a long time, about 3 weeks, and it was really frustrating because I was hovering right around my first goal of 200 lbs.
Well, I must be doing something right because in the last two weeks I've gone back to losing 2 lbs a week again, something I haven't been able to maintain since I was seeing my personal trainer every week last fall!
Over the weekend I felt really lazy, so after a normal breakfast my husband and I went out to eat for a late lunch/early dinner. Saturday we had BBQ (I couldn't finish the meal ... |

AngelzCryToo | Hey guys!
So this is my first journal post on here. Not sure if I'll do it regularly or not, but I figured I'd give it a shot. :)
I'm trying to get into shape for this summer. I like to wear bikini in the pool with my Hubby and I want to look great for him! We also might be going to the beach, and I don't want to hurt someone's eyes if I'm out of shape. haha!
I'm about 124 pounds, which wouldn't be so bad if I weren't 5'3"! I look skinny rib cage up and knees down, but my ... |
continue reading 7 comments February 8, 2009, 4:26 pm Getting pretty good at this diet thing... it might even become a lifestyle! :) | So.. my husband had to work all weekend, and when he got to come home early this evening, he suggested we get dinner out. I had about 1000 calories left today because I had a killer workout, but I'd only had an orange with lunch, so I felt I needed some fruits and veggies.
He suggested pizza, and while it's true that I had enough calories to have three slices of Papa John's pepperoni, I knew that I would feel bad afterward for ignoring my green leafy things, and besides, the sodium and fat would leave my food log way in ... |

Americans may eat healthier during recession
Nutrition experts predict that most Americans may be slightly more concerned with the economy than, say, their antioxidant consumption in the months ahead.
If that's the case, the quest for a healthful and cost-conscious diet suggests Americans will be eating more meals cooked at home, upping their produce and whole-grain intake and eschewing sodium. "It's the back-to-basics bailout diet," says Shelley McGuire, professor of nutrition at Washington State University in Pullman.

continue reading 5 comments November 5, 2008, 10:07 pm High food prices could lead to bigger waistlines | From the Los Angeles Times, November 5, 2008:
You might imagine that high food prices could put the nation on a diet as people, strapped for cash, tighten their belts and eat less. Forget that idea. Many nutrition experts fear that soaring food prices will have the opposite effect — fatten up the nation.
They point to science showing that price changes can make people change what they buy as well as how much. As the price of one food goes up, people not only buy less of it, but they also sometimes buy other, cheaper food in its place. And cheaper
