| March 12, 2010, 7:39 am Chocolate Cherry Dump Cake, serious treat
haleyb | This is the best dump cake, I made it yesterday for my sons birthday and thought I would share it.
It is not a diet cake. It is a full sugar, sweet glorious cake. But it is so rich a tiny bit will do, and while there is two tons of sugar in it there is not much fat.
1 Devils food cake box mix. I use Duncan Hines but they all work.
2 eggs
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1.5 cans (21oz) Cherry pie filling
Mix it all up. If it seems too dry add 1/8 cup water.
I bake it in a bundt pan but you ... |

jannie2 | I ordered a 'sampler' pack of vitatops from Amazon. I have been 'sampling' them all week and have to say they are pretty delicious! The only one (besides the multigrain I got locally) that I thought was just ok was the peanut butter one. I love PB and chocolate and thought it would be my favorite. I think the chocolate mint is my favorite so far!!:) They taste like girl scout cookies! They are helping me get enough iron in and are so filling. They really are a nice treat to plan for the evening! ... |

She used to say she was "allergic" to chocolate because she didn't really care for it, but I think she has gotten over her "allergy" in the last few years!
Well, she was being nice and gave me a chocolate heart and said "Happy Valentine's Day"! I unwrapped it, put it in my mouth... and it was awful! It was way too sweet, it was as if I put a tablespoon of sugar in my mouth. No, actually, come to think of it, a ... |

lorilane | I am so sorry to admit, I have added chocolate cheerios to the database. If Jim or Pam or Mike decides not to make the nutrinfo public, I understand. The thing that really disappointed me, is that the main ingredient is corn, not oats. No HFCS, thank goodness! And there are oats in there, fifth ingredient.
So, here's my story (justification).
I have been sick all week, saw an ad in the paper for these, sent the DH grocery shopping and put them on the list. So, I guess I will just have 3/4 cup for dessert and not lament too ... |

cdarsey | I found the Deep Chocolate at the third store I went to. YUMMY! Had it for breakfast this morning. Indulgent I know, but it's Saturday. Rice Epicurian had the chocolate, banana nut & corn and I can't wait to try them later this week. I'm saving the corn muffin for Chili or Beef Stew night.
They are expensive so this will definantely be a treat verses an every week eat. I'm going to order the apple berry and the chocolate peanut butter from the Vitalicious website, they both sound good. ... |

cdarsey | What can be more perfect than chocolate and coffee?
Chocolate & coffee mixed together of course.
How can that combo be made more perfect?
When you add fiber too it and call it healthy.
Stopped off at the store today and there on the shelf looking scrumptous was a box of Fiber One bars in Chocolate Mocha.
Yummy. ... |

erinATX | I saw bubbasmom's post about Dark Chocolate Silken Tofu which reminded me of this festive dessert. High in protein but not necessarily healthy, this mousse is good for special occasions and I swear, you'd never know tofu had anything to do with it.
Amaretto-Spiked Chocolate Mousse Recipe
1/2 cup chocolate soy milk
9 or 10 ounce bag of semisweet chocolate chips
12 ounces silken tofu
1/4 cup Amaretto or almond-flavored liquor
1/4 teaspoon natural pure almond extract
(I often use strongly brewed coffee or espresso and vanilla extract in place of the last two ingredients as I more often have those on hand.)

iowarose3 | Wowwwww.. all nice and green untilllllllll....... 2:15am I get this hunger I haven't had in months for chocolate. Last day before the green challenge starts soooooo.....what the heck.. can't help myself but I just had to do it! I got myself some of my husbands Reeses peanut butter cups and ate them. OMG.. they were so good. Oh well...tomorrows another day and I can exercise twice as hard. Ok now I'm alittle over in Sat. fats but I'm still within my maintenance calories. Not too bad...could of been worse.

Now you can get their PB in most grocery stores, sometimes its just hidden in the organic section. The cinnamon raisin is my husband's favorite, but I love the chocolate flavor!
It's gluten free, vegan approved, organic, and yummy! Today I had a sandwich thin with 2 tbsp of chocolate dreams and a tablespoon of no-sugar-added strawberry jam from TJ. It was so good it tasted more like desert than lunch. So, ... |

julesk | I think I found that treat that will, maybe a few times a week, be a go-to to slay the I need something crunchy-sweet-somewhat salty-peanut buttery-chocolatey-snacky craving.
Relatively low in calories, good vitamins, and you can change it up several ways, but here's what I did...
4 tbsp Ovaltine (1 serving)
1 cup fat-free (skim) milk
3/4 cups crushed ice
1 tbsp. Smart Balance creamy Peanut Butter
I put all that in my cup and blended with a stick blender. And then I slowly. sipped. away. Yummo!
Next time, I'll add a few slices of banana. Healthy eating can be so decadent and fulfilling! ... |

My mom spent a week at Rancho La Puerta years ago and has always spoken fondly of that time. The food at the spa was fresh, in season and locally grown. Rancho La Puerta’s mission statement, “to strive for health and wellness through mind/body/spirit balance” was an eye opening experience for her. Deborah Szekely started Rancho La Puerta with her husband around 1940, she later opened the Golden Door in 1957. Both spas encourage visitors to question their relationship to food. As co-author Deborah Schneider puts it, “how you feel every day is directly related to what you put, or don’t |

Disclaimer: mom and I have pretty strict ideas when it comes to food. Specifically, whole food vs. processed food. We believe it’s better to eat whole foods (but smaller quantities) than it is to have a diet filled with processed, fortified, low-fat, high-calorie packaged foods. That being said, here is a healthy cookie we recently made, inspired by a Rancho La Puerta* recipe.
These cookies were a total hit! We brought the batch down to the studio last week and they disappeared quickly. A bit crumbly and not too sweet (unless you get a piece of chocolate) they were eaten up by |
