WitchMomma, YES! I Want to Marry YOU!
But you are already taken. But I just love you to pieces. I've been catching up on the morning posts and I just thought you should know that I admire you and love your way of telling it.

That is all :-)

TRACBALL!
TRACBALL!We have this super fun racket game that we pull out each spring. It really is tons-o-fun and my kids (6, 4) are even able to join in.

It's called Tracball and you can get it from Amazon (CLICK HERE) for only $11.59 per box. Each box has two rackets, two balls--I recommend getting two boxes so at least four can toss the balls around. Everyone has a blast with this game! In fact, back in my not-so-healthy days, we used to play this over many, many beers (see profile pic, circa 2001) with our neighbors. An hour ...

Too Much Salt and Saturated Fat Can Make You (Me) Do Stupid Things
Yep, it's true. I have evidence. My fingers are so bloated from all the crap I ate on my day-o-red that I managed to BLOCK myself unknowingly today.

I even sent messages, asking Pam why I was being censored. Then I figured it out (Pam could see me on her screen). Duh.

Karyn justed consoled me by telling me that I was a different kind of a mess today than the day I ate the sweet cheeto crackbiscuits. If that ain't enough scientific evidence for why we should eat well, please read Kel's Post: Supplement vs. Food. ...

Lice Season, Pig Butts and Other Non Food Related Life Musings
Hola! No need to beat around the bush, I think I'll just jump right into it. My eldest has been sent home from school with three notes in ten days telling us that her head checks have resulted in no lice, but that we should continue to check them out over the course of the next week. Hmmm. Then there's today's note, telling us that we needed to keep in mind that it is still lice season. There's a lice season? I do not like this one bit. I think it ought to be on the teen pregnancy prevenion billboards. ...

Scandal!
There's a nasty, filthy rumor that a risqué SMILE will be posting sometime very soon.

Having written it before I read Jim's commentary:

I don't read everything these days. But, when something hits the top of the "hot topic" list and gets 88 replies, it's time to take a peek. At almost 70, I thought there were no surprises left. I can see now we'll need more than an Editor for Lynn's book ... we'll need a censor to make sure it can be displayed and sold outside of a wrapper.

And, the rest of you will have to go on tour ...

Dear Great Outdoors,
You've been hard on us this long, cold, snowy winter. Now you've decided that you will deliver us some kinder, gentler temperatures.

You may have decided to not rain today. Perhaps you even made it warm enough for a nice jog or a first-of-the season bike ride. You may even have provided us with the sound of mating peepers and the sight of daffodills and tulips breaking the earth.

Oh but great outdoors, it pains me so to see my NM family staying away from their computers. Sure, I want them to be outdoors getting their gardens ready, taking long ...

I Hope We Will Soon & Forever Kiss the Dieting Industry GoodbyeSubtitle: The Dieting Industry can KISS my BEHIND!

[Above: Pheasant Cordon Bleu eaten during weight loss last summer. Yeah, it was FRIED. But look at all those beautiful veggies. I enjoyed every wonderful bite!]

********

As we approach the release of the first NutriMirror Book, Balanced Days, Balanced Lives, I sincerely hope that with a window into the lives of some very successful NM members, folks are able to forever kiss the dieting industry behind.

Like many of you, I have done them all. I have been a vegetarian*, a low-carber, a low fatter, a non-eater, an over-exerciser, and an all-around fad ...

Why "EAT all of your CALORIES"???
To any NM family member who still questions eating their calories or anyone looking for solid proof...

PHENOMENAL WOMAN, this is for you~
Maya Angelou is one of my all-time favorite writers. She is strong and powerful and tells her story of a broken past and a rise up to greatness with a raw energy and vigor. I believe that she epitomizes the strength that a woman can possess so much so, in fact, that I named my oldest daughter after her. For all my NM sistas, this one's for you, too!

Here's to Getting Better w/ Age!Thanks to all of you for the thoughtful and simultaneous get well and birthday wishes.

Yesterday was a very lovely day. It was nice to be up and moving again. There was a little incident with a bowling ball that involved Annabel needing stitches but what's a Matava family outing without some excitement? Really, she handled it like a champ so no need to fret.

What really felt good was being able to log food again. I haven't eaten in so long that I really felt Karyn's words...soaking up the nutrition. Oh sweet amaranth and quinoa. Oh sweet NutriMirror. Yep, the ...

I Have Everything I Need
I Have Everything I NeedNo, not to start a hippie commune. Close but the grain/bean stockpile isn't quite there (someone keeps eating them).

I shared last night how my entire family has been in varying degrees of "not well" all week. I was just rubbing my daughter Maya's head and I noticed there was an eyelash on her cheek.

Now, I admit, that I am one of those self-absorbed people who truly believes my children were placed on this earth to teach me how pig-headed and unlearned I really am. It could be worse, I suppose, I could assume they were put here so that ...

Don't Read if You Are Eating
or thinking of food. or have just eaten. Perhaps I should subtitle this post The Puke Days.

I have been on and off of here since Monday. I have not logged an entire day (Wednesday was close) all week and what I have logged ain't pretty. One kid had a stomach virus. My husband had a cold. I thought I had the cold and the virus; it turns out that my stomach doesn't like cold medication.

So I am pretty sure I have bronchitis. I know, I know, I should go to the doctor. Last time I went for bronchitis ...

Yesterday Was My Anniversary
Yesterday Was My AnniversaryDoes this deserve a Healthy Living categorization?

Well, let's reflect, shall we?

- February 15, 2009, I logged onto NM for the first time, damned and determined to log my food to prove to my doctor that she was a horse's ass and that I was eating heatlhy and just burdoned with bad genes. (Not to be confused with bad jeans or purple pants).

- My first day I was green in most categories, largely in part to a ridiculous amount of supplements I was taking. Oh but I had 120% sodium, was over in fat, cholesterol and saturated fat for ...

Grizey Homemade Pizza Crust Stats & Tips
Grizey Homemade Pizza Crust Stats & TipsHey there, Grizey P. I make my pizza crust from scratch and I use only flour, water, yeast, salt and a dab of extra virgin olive oil (to keep it from sticking to the bowl during the rise).

Here's the nutritional data I have for two slices. These are thin-crust slices are about 7" wide at widest point, 8" long.

Pizza Tips:
1 - Buy canned plum tomatoes and crush yourself in a food mill or drain and use hand blender. If you really want to spring for great tomatoes, use 'San Marzano' tomatoes. But make sure the ingredients say tomatoes ...

Chickpea Curry
Chickpea CurryAnd to balance out the saturated fat from my Breakfast Chai Amaranth, I will be eating some of this amazingly inexpensive and easy chickpea curry recipe. I wasn't willing to wait for the beans to soak so I used canned garbanzos but you could almost eliminate the sodium w/ dried chickpeas.

1 Tbsp oil
2 onions, sliced
4 cloves garlic, crushed
1 Tbsp chili powder
1 Tbsp ground turmeric
1 Tbsp paprika

1 Tbsp ground coriander

I hadn't made it in months but now that I have revisited it, I had to share it again. It was such a welcome breakfast on this cold, snowy day. Plus, my food styling has gotten better so I had to share a new pic!
