The Ripple Effect

Being green when the entire nation around us doesn't seem so healthy can be frustrating. I just wanted to share a little "ripple effect" story from this morning. Being green is catching!

Each morning I walk with my two daughters (5 & 3) and my friend's sons (7 & 5, whom I baby-sit before and after school) to the bus stop. It is 1/8 of a mile each way and, of course, the three year old has to walk both ways because she isn't in full time school yet. The other boy who goes to the bus stop lives much closer (he can see the stop from his house) and he the oldest child at the stop (8). The neighbor boy catches a ride down the street with his mother just about every day.

This morning the boy and his mother WALKED down to the bus stop!!!! She said that seeing us pass every day was inspiring. She was out of breath BUT she made it. And she decided to walk a little further after the bus left. Isn't it great that being green is so contagious?
