I have had a very relaxing week or so in the chilly but beautiful lakeside town of Colchester, VT. No television, no computers, not even a newspaper. . Even the cellular phone reception was lousy and unreliable. We truly got away from it all. It was wonderful. We packed much of our own food and I began the week with paper logs and an abundance of exercise. I also swam/dove/snorkeled almost every day and threw in a couple of good hikes; both had to have helped me greatly as by Wednesday my logs were all but a landing for keys, hair ties and loose change. Good intentions aside, I did manage to pack in my fill of ice-cream (two separate occasions) locally made chocolates, a couple of deep fried items, oh yeah, did I mention that I drank beer almost every day for 9 days strait?!?!? On the positive side, I did eat chia every day but one and had some kamut, oodles of fresh veggies, and wild harvested fish, pheasant, and venison. We also ate chicken that our friends had raised and harvested the day before we left. All-in-all, I would say a pound and a half is not the most tragic of weight gains. I certainly earned it honestly. If anyone is interested in seeing more pics, I am attaching a link for a photo album on my myspace page, which will remain public for several days. For the safety of my kids on this very public internet, I will make the photos private by the end of the week. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=136565962&albumId=2311950 The other family is my husband's best friend from childhood, his wife and their two children (2 and 1). They guys are all but biological brothers and it really is like traveling with family. Both husbands hunt and fish so, as you can see from the photos, we eat a lot of wild harvested foods. Most veggies were from our gardens. I have missed you all immensely and I know that I do need the tool and your support for my ongoing success. Knowing I had you to come back to made it all a little less stressful. Have a great, green week! ~Lynn
