Sad 'so long' to Andy
Good morning, my dear, sweet family!!!

I just saw Andy off on his journey this morning, and I am so sad. Thought I would post this so I can take my mind off him leaving for a while.

We had such a wonderful visit, as he has already told you part of. He stayed over one extra night, partly because of the weather and partly so we could visit and hug some more. I think we overdid the hugging, way more than was requested of us. The rest of them, the extras, I’m claiming for myself. He is such a sweet and ...

Bone Density Test
I just returned from seeing the doctor in Tulsa and got the results of my test. My bones have improved over the last 3 years, which was the last time I had a test. He said my bones are better than a young adult. I was concerned about losing an inch in height, but he said it was because our bones are totally replaced in 7 years, and as we age the bones get smaller when they get replaced. He said that accounts for the loss in height.

I was really sweating the results since I had the test done and ...

Georgiae
Here is a comment I tried to put on your post, but it refused to take it, so I'll post it here.

Well, I was red on fats, (low), and on carbs, (high), but not because of the site being down. It was my celebration Chinese Buffet evening with my Cupcakes team and I didn't even log it because I ate a bite of so many different things I couldn't even begin to figure out what it all came to. I know it would have been way high on sodium, because I feel like a big block of salt this morning. ...

Doctor's visit
OK, here is the report of my blood work-up:

Cholesterol: 109 (not a misprint)

LDL: 54

HDL: 42

Triglycerides: 63

Doctor says that is about as perfect as you can get, but still won't take off any of my meds because of the 2 stents I have in arteries. I really hate taking the blood thinners, but he thinks they are a must. They will call me in the morning about the results of the 3 tests they did today. EKG, BIO (whatever that is), and an Echo Gram. I don't have to go see him again till the middle of June. Then I ...

Too much sodium
Well, I really wanted to go to Egbert's with my daughter and granddaughter yesterday evening on my evening out with them, but after having Rotisserie chicken for lunch, the liver and onions I wanted to eat sent my sodium soaring. Therefore, I opted for a Captain D's tilapia dinner, and they were all for it. They had fried fish and hushpuppies, but I had the tilapia and was able to eat the roll with a little margarine on it along with rice, broccoli and salad. Later, we went to McDonald's and had an ice cream cone. Wonderful!! Thank goodness for ...

Note from JaylaFaith
I received this email from Jayla this morning. She is such a busy little girl. I really think she could manage to log if it was a real priority, but she is in Nursing School with lots of homework and her family, and Nathan is in school with lots of homework and working full time, so they are a busy family. She did learn a lot in the time she was on the site, so it is helping her a lot now. Here is her note:

I forgot to send you the pic u wanted! I will throw in a couple ...

Vitamin D Info
Here are some things the lady who did my bone test told me about Vitamin D:

Enhance intestinal calcium absorption
Help build strong bones
Activate immune defenses against cancer
Stimulate resistance to infection
Help prevent autoimmune disease--especially Type 1 diabetes
Help prevent some cancers--especially colon polyps and colon cancer
Lessen chronic muscle and bone pain

Something else she recommended for bone health is Reclast IV. It supposedly does the following:

Reduces osteoporosis related spine fractures by 70%
Reduces osteoporosis hip fractures by 41%
Reduces subsequent fractures in the first 2 years after a hip fracture
Is given intravenously over 15 minutes (small needle in hand or arm)
Requires a repeat injection every ...

Life gets easier
Beginning today, I will have a lot more free time for my own life. The mom of my 2 older girls quit her job and is going to stay home with the girls. I will still have them all day on Fridays, but only occasionally at any other time. That means I can check out the Yoga class at the YMCA that I have been wanting to try. Don't even know if I will like it. It is on Monday and Wednesday mornings. I shouldn't ever have to miss it, because my youngest little charge always goes home with her ...

First time ever
I have a red blotch on my home page, and just because I ate 60 calories too many over my maintenance allowance. I really didn't know that would do it. That's what I get for not logging first. Oh well, you live and learn. Just hate to have to look at it for the next 2 weeks. Everything else was pretty and green on that day, the 29th. Would that count on my green for the Green Day Challenge if it had already started? I'll be more careful next time. ...

At final goal
Reached my final goal, (actually my doctor's goal for me), this morning!!!! Now if I can only maintain. I don't want to lose any more. I'm at 135. and just don't think I need to go any lower. I may change my mind later on, but I need my body to get adjusted to this weight and firm up some more. That is not as easy as it sounds at almost 80. Since school started it has been harder for me to find time for my exercise. Too many babies here a lot of the time. Plus, the extra great-grandson ...

Vegetarian recipes
There is a site that has a lot of vegetarian recipes. I saw it on TV. It is ChristinaCooks.com

Thanks to all the thoughts, prayers and healing vibes, this morning I am almost back to 100%. Feel like I could eat a horse, but don't think that is in the data base. I'm just having a tall drink of water right now. Couldn't even do that yesterday. My thanks to all of you, my wonderful adopted NM family. I appreciate you all very much. ...

Rice
Well, everyone seems to be loving rice in many ways, but I just don't like rice. I don't like the time it takes to cook, and it never comes out right. I have brown rice. Maybe I should start by using instant rice in some of the recipes I see here. I know it wouldn't be as nutritious, but maybe it would help me begin to like rice. Any suggestions? ...

Back to Normal
Whatever that means!! I went to church this morning and shopped all afternoon. Now I'm ready for the girls to start school tomorrow. They don't go full time. I will have both of them all day tomorrow. After that I don't know what my schedule will be.
Sure didn't take me long to get over whatever that was that I had. Ran a temperature for one day, had a sore throat one night and one day, and better now.
Sure glad it didn't hang around very long. Thanks for everyone's concern. I appreciate you guys. ...

Now it's my turn
As I read the posts I see that many of us have been getting ill, and I've been wondering if it is just the time of year or what. Since we are all eating so healthy I would think we would have enough resistance to stay well. And now it is my turn. I was sick all night Wednesday night and all day Thursday with sore throat and some nausea. Had to miss going to the YMCA Thursday I'm feeling some better this afternoon, but still not well. One of my little girls, Chloe, was sick Wednesday, and maybe before ...

Red Home Page
I'm afraid if I don't get my sodium under control my home page is going to turn RED and I'm not going to like that. I always know the reasons why sodium is red, and I just must stop eating those things. Like a Subway sandwich when out with my daughter and Polska Kielbasa and sauerkraut all in the same day. I know better, just need to do better. I love this site!! Today is a new fresh day and maybe I'll do better. Thanks for being there, Everyone. I know I can count on you for support. ...

Blood Thinners
I'm wondering, when you take blood thinners is it a good idea to try to keep your Vitamin K green? My sister took coumadin and they told her not to eat those green leafy veggies that they say it takes to get you Vitamin K. Can anyone give me the answer? I take both Plavix and baby aspirin. ...
