Health & Fitness coaching...You know, the more energy, thought and research I put into my own health, nutrition and fitness, the more I wonder ".. why don't I make a career out of this?" Honestly, I'm probably more well informed on leading a healthy lifestyle than I am about graphic design at this point, thanks in no small part to the year I've been here on NM. (Almost my year anniversary~!)
I feel like I have a lot of things I could teach other people, based on my own personal experiences and based on the WEALTH of resources I've found online through the course of my wellness journey. Tips on exercises, nutrition, macronutrition, shopping for and cooking whole foods, the gradual shift from loving junk to loving food I cooked myself...
And then I read a post by Lynn Matava and I feel like "jeez, either I'm going to be preaching to the choir or I'm going to be basically walking in someone elses footsteps," doh. So many of my own wellness resources are the written journeys of the people who have gone before me. Then I feel discouraged :(
Yet... every week, Dr. Oz is touting some other new diet fad or "superfood", every week the diet industry is bringing out some other new "lose weight quick" scheme, every three months Oprah is gaining and losing weight in support of some "new way", so it seems to me that we need as many advocates for a better, safer, sustainable and more natural way to live healthy lives as possible.
I know we have several people on NM who have travelled the twisty diet path towards becoming official, registered champions of the nutritionist and dietician sort. So guys... not that I'm asking for affirmation to quit my job and go back to school immediately or anything... but what are your experiences? What are your goals? How are you going about doing what you're doing?
And what are everyone elses thoughts/input?
(Good gracious, I posted a similar sentiment on my FB wall, and I'm seeing a RIDICULOUS amount of support from my friends and fam about the concept... I think I might have hit on something here, lol!)
