| Recent Journal Entry ArchiveNovember 15, 2009, 10:10 am Doing okay! | I have been avoiding the scale for the last couple of weeks, thinking that I've not been doing well.
Finally I had a big talk with myself. I've always said I refuse to be a statistic. I refuse to gain the weight back.
I decided that I was happy between 145 and 155. And to be frank, I've been worried that I'm over 160. So today I decided to pull my head out of my ass and face the scale.
154.6
Okay!! Phew!! Okay, so I can lose a couple of pounds. But reality is, do you know what this means?
I've got this ... |
continue reading 7 comments November 15, 2009, 10:00 am I made the best dinner (recipe sorta) | I cooked a two chicken breasts half way (dinner was just hubby and I). While they were baking, seasoned with Keg Steak Spice, I prepped the rest.
I took two portobello mushrooms, and ripped the stems off. I seasoned them with salt and pepper and a sprinkle of Garlic Plus. I sliced up some black olives and lined the mushrooms with them. Then I topped it with a couple of tablespoons of PC Blue Menu Primavera sauce.
When the chicken was half done, I layed them over the mushrooms, and scooped on some more primavera sauce and popped them in the oven. ... |

She literally picked up my Cairn by the back and shook her. Twice. She skinned her, and punctured her repeatedly. Two hours of emergency surgery, and I'm home with Frankendog. It's awful awful awful.
I actually was not hungry last night for dinner. I ate popcorn while watching biggest loser, but that was purely an emotional need.
Today i'm struggling with ... |

October 5, 2009, 12:22 pm Game On! | Last week was insane. Both a death and a birth on the same day. The death made us have to jump in the car and drive 14 hours to the next province. Crazy amounts of visiting, then the service, and the drive home made for NO workout time. And eating? Well, I did my best, but man, there were not a ton of good choices. I actually cooked dinner for our hosts one night, just to have a healthy meal, lol.
The scale was at 158 (healthy for me is 147), so I'm "game on" lemme tellya. Shootin for the green. ... |

continue reading 36 comments August 20, 2009, 5:09 pm The Experiment... cont'd | I've been googling like mad and found that I burned around 660 calories while I slept (according to this: http://www.fitwatch.com/phpscripts/viewexercise.php?descr=sleeping&mets=0.9 )
Does that seem high to anyone else? Mind you, another site said we burn approximately 77 calories an hour whilewe sleep, which (yes I slept ten hours) would be 770, so maybe not.
That puts my grand total during a non excercise day at ... 2200 calories??? Really??? Whoa! To maintain!!
I don't think that's right. It seems much too high. That would mean that to lose a pound a week I should be eating 1600 calories, without excercise (plus any ... |

Factors:
- No excercise.
- Average work day.
- Sensors dried and don't know how long it went without recoding while I slept. Probably not more than 300 calories. During the day was 1300, so what do you think... a third the calorie burn while sleeping? Anyone know? ... |

The only thing is that the sensors dried out while I was sleeping, so it didn't register, but I have no idea for how long! So I may be off by a couple or a couple of hundred.
My thought is I'll have to do it again, without the sleeping part, and work out the difference... no, that won't work. Hrmph. Any suggestions? Can I stick wet cotton balls ... |
continue reading 8 comments August 6, 2009, 8:44 am Measure EVERYTHING | This morning I had raspberries with my breakfast.
According to the database:
21 berries = 21 calories
98 grams = 51 calories
On my plate 98 grams = 21 berries.
Doesn't add up.
I've gone back to measuring EVERYTHING, so that I know I'm getting an accurate measure. Sure it's only a 30 calorie difference, but how many times a day was I underestimating, and by how much?
What I didn't take into account was that maybe the berries here are gigantic compared to the ones wherever the database was taken from are. There are factors like that all over the place. ... |

I just wanted to let you know that I am still around... and I'm trying to keep up with all the journal entry's, but holy banana feathers, has this place been hopping!
I have my sister in town from Taiwan for seven weeks, so I don't have the time to sit and veg on the comp like I usually do. I miss my blog reading!

I think the word I keep coming back to is "balance". In life we try and always find the right balance in everything. In work vs home. In play vs serious. In OCD clean vs Disgustinly slovenliness. In healthy eating and excercising. In pretty much everything we do, we strive for a balance.

That is the number on the scale this morning. I gave myself a food vacation from Wednesday to Sunday. I didn't work out. I drank. I ate chips. I ate caesar salad. I ate ridiculous portions.
I feel like shit. I've been in a food hangover for days. I feel like my body is full of toxins. My clothes are tight. My muffin top is so pronounced that I cannot wear 2/3 of my wardrobe.
I feel fat.
What is scary is how QUICKLY that weight comes back on. This is why it's so easy to get fat again. This is why ... |

May 8, 2009, 8:52 am New Focus... Dammit! | Okay, I've been hovering between 148 and 150 for the last week, and I've just about had enough.
Time to get my head out of the sand before I pull a Kirstie. I know what the issues are. In fact there are three of them:
1). I don't get my allotment of freggies in each day.
2) Too many bread products, even if I am within my caloric budget.
3) Not listening to hunger / satisfied body signals even if I am within my caloric budget.
There's the crux. I stay within my caloric budget, and I shoot for green, but I am seriously FULL. ... |

I asked Mike about this a couple of months back as it was the only thing I thought was missing from this system. I love having the ability to sit down the night before and plan how I'm going to spend my calories the next day. I've adjusted to not having that capability, but I haven't liked it!

Holy CRAP was this good! Thanks to Mouseroo (fellow blogger) for the link to her post on a dish when I posted a question on my blog of what to do with an eggplant, having impulse bought my first one. I also got from someone (damned if I can remember who right now, sorry) for a core (WW term) version of the same dish.

I did it! With no training! I lived! AND I did a better time than I did last year, when I trained perfectly in a couch to 10k 14 week training schedule. Plus, I had to wait in line for a porta-potty for a good 5 minutes, so my time was actually even better if you minus that.

I actually have no problem with this, because of the tools I use. It may work for you, it may not. But here's what I do:
If the portion is a half cup, I literally measure out one half cup into the measuring spoon. Then I leave it IN the measuring spoon (because my reality is that if I transfer that into a bowl it's going to look smaller). I eat it using a baby spoon. Yup, a tiny little baby spoon. You know the ones... the ones we ... |
