| Recent Journal Entry ArchiveMarch 8, 2010, 12:58 pm I has a sick. :( | The good news is that I am not having the heart attack I thought I was. But after a night in the ER, it turns out I have an inflamed stomach. Boo.
Bland foods, in small portions, for a while. Which may actually be good news, lol. Sounds like a good plan to shrink my tummy a little bit. My apetite sucks right now, and food hurts, so eating is not fun by any means.
I made a piece of dry toast for breakfast, and had a half cup of plain oatmeal for lunch. I made extra oatmeal so I can grab ... |

February 19, 2010, 8:22 am Happy Healthiversary! |
Today is February 19, 2010. I started my journey towards a healthier me on February 19, 2007. Has it really been three years?
Three years ago today I quit smoking, and started Weight Watchers. It was the best day of my life.
Three years ago I weighed 208lbs (at 5'2"), had fatty liver disease, pasty sickly skin,I only drank coffee (and lots of it), I could not manage stairs, never played with the kids, sat on my couch all the time I wasn't sitting at my desk, ate everything "covered and smothered", always looked for the most food for my dollar, ... |

I actually stepped on the scale this morning expecting a loss (I haven't expected in weeks). Up. 157.0lbs. WTF??
Start doing inventory and realize that I forgot how much running makes me GAIN in the first bit. As my muscles tear and grow, ache and pain, it actually causes a weight gain, which will be lost in the weeks to come, as long as I stick with it. I will become leaner, if not lighter.
I'll take my measurements. That will show me my progress when the scale doesn't.
Still, despite knowing all I know, I was ... |

February 18, 2010, 8:35 am Peanut Butter Yogurt | Literally.
1/4 cup plain fat free yogurt
1 tablespoon PB2
Yup, that's it. I've been using it on my chopped apples with a bit of granola. I've been using it as a dip. I've been eating it plain when I'm craving peanut butter.
Shocking I didn't try this sooner. ... |

I might be fostering a wiener bitch! Her mommy answered an ad I had on CraigsList. She has to move in with her mom for a few months. The economy hit her industry hard, and she’s been layed off. She has a life plan in play, but needs a home for her pup till she can get out of her mom’s. Her mom lives in a building that does not allow animals. continue reading 5 comments January 30, 2010, 6:49 pm "Empty the Fridge Mexican Stoup" | I was going to go grocery shopping today, but the couch was seriously calling my poor achey head. Okay, it was calling my butt, and my aching head begged my butt to give in.
So I rummaged in the fridge and decided to just use up what I have. This is what went into the crock pot:
baby bok choy
broccoli
mushrooms
carrots
corn
black beans
green beans
chili powder
oregano
cumin
cayenne pepper (just a pinch)
salt
onion soup mix
water
pork stock ice cubes (6)
I just had a cup, and it is rather delicious. A tad fiery, but not bad at all (I have pussy taste buds, so don’t do “hot” well). I like ... |

January 27, 2010, 1:04 pm What a Mess!! | I was scrolling back through my journal entries the other day, categorizing them, and I came across my recipe for Eggplant Casserole. The picture made me want to make it again. *slurp*
So I assemble the whole thing on my lunch break today, only to realize at the end that I forgot to bake the eggplant slices first. D'OH!!
So I picked off most of the top (grated cheese... you can imagine how fun THAT was), and dumped out the rest in a bowl. I picked out the eggplant slices, rinsed them off, and baked them. Now to reassemble.
This better taste as ... |

Now at eye level, hold your hands as far apart as you think your hips are wide. Don't look down at your hips. Just use your perspective. How wide are your hips?

I find myself at a crossroad in life. And I'm not really sure what I'm going to do. I'm kinda standing here, scuffing my toe back and forth, wondering if I'm going insane, or if the world is sending me a message, or what.
I think the word I keep coming back to is "balance". In life we try and always find the right balance in everything. In work ... |
continue reading 7 comments January 20, 2010, 9:22 pm I think I found the secret | Exercise is something I struggle with. Today, I actually got up early and put in 15 minutes on the treadmill. I know it's not much, but at this point anything is better than nothing.
But that's not the secret part. I stayed in my workout clothes... and found myself exercising while waiting for things during my work hours! If I had showered and changed, no way would I have worked out again. And if I were still in my jammies, same.
Five minutes here and there is better than no minutes anywhere. I think I see a lot more work days in ... |

January 10, 2010, 9:03 am Re: Love the One You're With | Kel, GREAT article!
I actually took the line in another direction when I read it, so was pleasantly surprised and intrigued to read your interpretation.
To me, reading "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you are with" I thought of bodies.
Back when I was big, I didn't love my body. And I always thought "I'll love it when it's lost all the weight". Imagine my SHOCK when I lost all the weight, and was told by my doctor to stop losing, and I didn't love the body I had! I mean, what's to love about this ... |

It's not been my food so much as my lack of moving my hiney that has added the extra pounds. I've said it many times that it needs to be a balance for me to hover successfully. But since before the holidays, I cannot look you in the eye and tell you that I have been working out with any regularity.
No more. I have always stated that I refuse to ... |
continue reading 6 comments January 7, 2010, 2:38 pm Would you... ? | Watching Biggest Loser this week, I was shocked and awed at the first thing they had to do... stand on a scale and announce their starting weight to their friends, family, and entire town.
I was fascinated because I have always felt that until you own it, it's not yours to change. Standing in front of the hordes, on a giant scale, announcing to all your current weight... if that's not owning it, I don't know what is.
So... Could you do it? Would you do it?
I asked on FB the next day and got some interesting feedback.
Noteably:

Finally I had a big talk with myself. I've always said I refuse to be a statistic. I refuse to gain the weight back.
I decided that I was happy between 145 and 155. And to be frank, I've been worried that I'm over 160. So today I decided to pull my head out of my ass and face the scale.

I took two portobello mushrooms, and ripped the stems off. I seasoned them with salt and pepper and a sprinkle of Garlic Plus. I sliced up some black olives and lined the mushrooms with them. Then I topped it with a couple of tablespoons of PC Blue Menu Primavera sauce.

She literally picked up my Cairn by the back and shook her. Twice. She skinned her, and punctured her repeatedly. Two hours of emergency surgery, and I'm home with Frankendog. It's awful awful awful.

October 5, 2009, 12:22 pm Game On! | Last week was insane. Both a death and a birth on the same day. The death made us have to jump in the car and drive 14 hours to the next province.
