I reached my weight goal, so I entered a new weight goal, but it is not updating on my home page. Therefore, the Food Log indicates I have higher Weight Loss Calories than Maintenance Calories.

KEL ....
Just checking in to see how your Monday was, and if this week will be a little easier on you.

You are among my top stars here at NM, and I don't think I would be where I am today in this journey had it not been for your concern, help, encouragement, and inspiration.

Even if I don't regularly check-in on you (shame on me), I think about you every day!

Hope it's a good week for you. ...

In case anyone was wondering ...
... I worked out at the gym on Saturday, and took yesterday off. I had been 4 days in a row, so I figured taking Sunday off was okay. Believe me, for most of the day, I somehow felt just a bit guilty for not going.

I was up again this morning (despite my alarm clock breaking on Friday and having to wake up on my own), and was at the gym by 6:20 (I know this is not early for many people, but it's definitely early for me). I worked out for 54 minutes. Did my circuit training, which ...

Gym - Day 3
Short post.

Third day in a row to the gym. Did my circuit training, 3 minutes on the elliptical (that's all I could manage), and 27 minutes on the treadmill.

Legs felt a little wobbly at the end, but I sat and visited with a few members before I left. They were impressed I was there 3 days in a row. I told them: "I need to make this a habit, and the only way to do that is to keep coming."

That's all. Have a good day, everyone! ...

332 Calories Burned
Today is Day 2 of my new exercise routine. Again, I got up early, although a few minutes later than yesterday because my alarm wasn't set properly. But, I woke up, looked at the clock, and thought, "$#@&!!!" But, it was only 10 minutes past the time I had wanted to get up. So, no lolligagging this morning ... made a bit of breakfast, got changed, and headed to the gym.

Did the same circuit training as yesterday. The first machine seemed much heavier than yesterday, and about halfway through the set, I realized I had the weight set at 50 ...

First Day at Gym
Yes! I set the alarm clock last night and actually got up 2 hours earlier than normal and got my butt to the gym that I joined last night.

The workout was relatively easy ... the instructor didn't want me to overdo it the first day. So, it was just 1 set of 12 reps on 7 machines and a few minutes on the treadmill. I did well on most of the machines, but the shoulder one .... yowwww!! I'm still feeling the burn in my shoulders. And the crunch machine .... hmmm ... I think I'm going to have a ...

Well, I did it ...
... I finally have something to journal about. On my way home, I stopped at the gym nearest my house (about a 5 minute drive from my house), took a tour, asked some questions, and JOINED. OMG! My past history with gyms is not good ... join, go regularly for a month, maybe two, then find some excuse not to go one day, and that one day turns into two, then three, etc., etc., until I'm paying for a membership that I am no longer using. So, the echoing question in my mind is: how am I going to keep ...

JFT Update
In my Exercise Confession post last night, I listed some JFTs for today:

(1) I will keep my sodium green;

All food logged, and sodium is green ... barely (100%), but it is green.

(2) I will get up early enough to put in 10 minutes on the bike;

Rode exercise bike for 12 minutes this morning.

(3) I will drink all of my water;

64+ ounces of water consumed.

(4) I will put in another 10 minutes on the bike in the evening.

Rode bike for 13 minutes this evening.

I can't say that I enjoyed the exercise, but when I was done, I felt like ...

Exercise Confession
I do not enjoy exercising. Or, maybe it's just that I'm lazy. There it is. It's out there now, and now it's time to find a way to start enjoying exercise, or to get motivated to start again and keep at it.

During the summer, as some of you may recall, I started walking, and I kept at it regularly ... until the weather changed. And, then the excuses started. I'd read journal posts, particularly Kel's, about ridding ourselves of excuses, or all the JFT posts, and I knew everyone was right, but I still gave in to the excuses. Those ...

Lab Results ... Finally
Well, after 2 weeks and not getting any test results in the mail, I called my doctor's office for my lab test results. The assistant said they don't notify if the test is normal (good sign), but that if I wanted to see my results, I could logon to a website, and she gave me the login instructions.

Here are my results:
Total Cholesterol (Normal is less than 200):
April: 262
October: 192
HOLY COW! A 70 point drop in 6 months!!!!

HDL (Greater than 35)
April: 76
October: 43
YAY, I think.

LDL (Less than 130)
April: 171
October: 128
HOLY GUACOMOLE COW!

Triglycerides (Normal less than 200)
April: 105
October: 105

So, for the first ...

Compliment, Christmas, Eating Out, Kitchen, and Goals
These are some of the things I've considered posting about since Friday ... and now I am. Sorry for the length.

Compliment. As usual on Friday, my son and I sat at the bar at Caleco's for lunch. Shortly after we arrived, a co-worker (who I only see in passing maybe once or twice a month) pulled up a stool around the bar corner from where we were sitting.

Me: Hi, Anita. How's life treating you?

Her: Fine. How have you lost all this weight?

Me: (instant huge smile) Thanks! I found this great food and exercise logging website back in May. (Then, ...

Back with the living ...
Not sure if anyone missed me the last 10 days or so, but just wanted to let you know I hadn't deserted you or NM ... I was just sick. Finally today I feel back to my normal self. Thank goodness.

For many of the days I tried very hard and succeeded at being green, but then my cupboards became bare, and I just didn't have the energy to shop or cook, for that matter. A few days were low in calories, with not enough nutrients. I know ... when is a more important time to make sure you get all ...

Doctor's Visit
Well, I had my 6-month routine doctor's appointment today. As an added bonus, I managed to develop an upper respiratory infection just in time to see him. lol

The first thing he noticed was my BP, which was 122/68 ... and he was VERY pleased. I just smiled and said, "I think there's something else you'll like." He turned the page, and said, "Oh, wow!" And, he looked at me and smiled, then did the calculations for the weight lost. "Look at you ... that's great!"

I then pulled out my Nutrimirror pamphlet, a copy of my Reflection analysis for my time ...

Question re Homemade Chicken Stock & Sodium
This may be a stupid question, but I'm going to ask it anyway.

I made some chicken stock by boiling in water 3 skinless/boneless chicken breasts and 3 skinless (w/bone) chicken breasts. I did not add any seasoning of any kind. I have skimmed off most of the fat from the stock (which was very little).

The database listing for Homemade Chicken Stock shows the sodium at 394 grams (or thereabout). The database listing for Chicken Breast, Raw, shows sodium as 94 grams (or thereabout).

Should I enter my own entry for chicken stock with the lower sodium content, or am I ...

Hi, tried to post this comment to your original post, but it must be too long (sorry for that).

Let me add my "welcome to the NM family" to all the others' before me. Their words are very true -- this is a wonderfully supportive and encouraging group.

As for the lap band, while I don't have first-person experience, my younger sister had the procedure almost 2 years ago. Her weight loss was so successful within the first 5 months that I considered also having the procedure. I went through the doctor's interview and the psychologist interveiw, and was about ready to ...

Caterpillars Status
Caterpillars StatusGood morning my lovely green Caterpillars. We are looking mighty green and are on course for becoming beautiful green butterflies.

After the first day of the Challenge, 7 out of 9 of us had totally green days. Congratulations to csiegfried, maggieb183, mmcqueen, mjones7100, janelldm, silviajdm, and myself. cynthia08 is nearly green -- only missing some vitamins, and tinadoll99 has only logged breakfast for yesterday, so it's possible they will also be green if they have more to log.

Way to go, Caterpillars. Let's keep up this awesome green momentum! ...

The Caterpillar Metamorphosis ...
The Caterpillar Metamorphosis ...Caterpillars, I found this poem online. there's was no author listed, so I can't give the proper credit. I had to read a few times, thinking it was a bit odd ... but then I'm not a poet. Anyway, I think it has a good message. Hope you like it.

The caterpillar crawls and eats and eats.
And grows, shedding its skin but little more.
Crawl, climb, eat. Crawl, climb, eat.|
Of all of our lives, can we not soar?

One day as two caterpillars looked
As a beautiful butterfly sailed by.
Of course one said to the other:
"You'll never get me in a butterfly, high."

Gratefulness, laughing ...

Happy Where I Am ... and Where I'm Going
So, I hadn't intended to post about this. My reasoning will be divulged below. But, then I read Kel's post "Sending thanks out to the Universe" with a reference to her Dad's "Don't wish your life away", and I decided that, indeed I am happy and thankful for where I am right now. That doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to where I'm going, and I intend to get there eventually.

With everyone's posts in the last month or so of getting into size 14, size 12, size 10, I just thought to myself that my change wasn't very significant. But, ...

I have a date with the 220's in about 10 weeks, so I'll be leaving you then. Don't be sad. I'll make sure to stop and spend a bit of time with each and every 10 of you on my way.

I'm Baaaaaaack ! What did I miss?
Hello everyone! I'm back from my Miami visit and weekend float trip. And, while I'm sad vacation is over and I'm back to work, I'm so glad to be able to focus on NM again. I feel like I've missed so much.

Miami was fabulous. It wasn't nearly as hot as I thought it would be. Spent 2 days at the beach and one day at the pool. And, yes, the beach was "au natural", and, yes, I was sans swimsuit. Oh my!

Even though I did make my friend take me to the grocery store when I arrived, as I ...
