![]() female, 26 years old Boston, MA | May 5, 2009, 4:28 pm Step Aerobics kicked my behind! So, I've wanted to try some of the classes that are free with my gym membership. Here it is in May (I joined in September) and I'm just now getting around to something besides yoga. :)They actually canceled the yoga class I used to go to on Tuesdays because it wasn't getting enough people (that's why I liked it!), and they've now replaced it with a class called "Step n Sculpt". It's basically 30 minutes of intermediate step aerobics and then 30 minutes of stretching and weight training. Have I ever done step aerobics before? Only if you count when I was 8 and I used to mimic my mom and her exercise video tapes! I usually do my cardio workouts in time with my iPod, and that's a close as it gets. But, armed with my impeccable sense of rhythm and three years of dance 20 years ago, I boldly attempted the class. I would not recommend such a thing for people who can't keep time, or trip over their own feet or don't know their left from their right. I found myself flouncing around and spinning in circles clueless-ly more than once. However, I know I burned a boat-load of calories. Step aerobics kicked my behind, and I think I'll go back next week! PS: I may have finally kicked through a weight plateau. I've been holding steady for three weeks (or -eek- even gaining a pound) and I finally dropped a pound from my previous minimum at my weigh-in today. Just goes to show you have to stick in there, even when the scale starts to slow down, because you will eventually overcome!
