![]() female, 26 years old Boston, MA | April 20, 2009, 10:08 am Taking a break? So, when I started to make all these lifestyle changes in August '08, my goal was to get down to at least 200 pounds in two years. I'm currently at 202ish. When I started seeing a trainer last fall, she asked me what my IDEAL weight would be, and I said 160 pounds, around what I weighed when I started high school. She suggested a happy medium of 180 pounds, and when I got there I could decide on the last 20 pounds. What made her pick a goal above my ideal was the fact that I have been overweight for a long time. She said that people who are used to being big have a hard time getting used to being smaller, and now I think I know what she means. I've lost around 60 pounds in eight months, and I'm 75 pounds lower than my highest-ever weight. I mean, I'm still no where near "knock-out", and I'm still technically obese, but I feel like I might need to take a little break to get used to the way I look and feel. I'm actually getting tired of all my *new* pants being too baggy, and I'm used to be able to pick up clothes in the store and know whether they'd fit or not; I seem to have lost my sense of what my body looks like! Does/did anyone else who lost a significant amount of weight feel a little strange with their new body? What is your opinion on taking a "maintenance" break?
