About Me

26 year-old grad student (former physics teacher) who started out at 265lbs summer of 2008. I'd pretty much gained at least 10lbs a year since puberty and peaked at 275. I've struggled with a lack of interest in exercising as well as an emotional attachment to food and a tendency to binge when I get stressed.

I started walking spring of 2008 because it's just beautiful in Boston when it finally gets warm (I'm from NC where spring is usually already 80 degrees). I joined a gym summer of 2008 and completed a 12 week personal training program where my progress was on display for the whole gym. My trainer was awesome, and when my program was done, I moved my food journaling to Nutramirror on the recommendation of my in-laws.

My approach to losing weight is to get a routine that I'm able to keep up without too many sacrifices. I still eat Dunkin' Donuts at least once a week, and I base my weight-loss goals off of how many calories I'm comfortable eating.

My Goals

I have gone from "obese" to "overweight", and I know I probably won't ever see "normal", but I'm OK with that. I'm struggling now to find my ideal weight, but I figure I'll know it when I get there.

I have officially lost 100 pounds since my all-time high of 275lbs three years ago.

My goal all along, and especially for the next year, is to get healthy enough to get pregnant. For Lent I'm planning on cutting out all artificial sweeteners and caffeine, as well as alcohol and unpasteurized foods.
