![]() female, 56 years old | July 6, 2009, 8:43 am Outcome of the 4th--Good!And the maintenance saga continues. . .Today I got on the scale and it was a 1 pound up (166). I did not overeat this weekend, but I did overdo it on the salt. So, I believe it is just water retention, which should be gone by tomorrow. I found that as long as I stayed away from trigger foods and appetite stimulating foods I was able to keep it under control. We went to the movies and I took 60 grams of sunflower seeds to munch on--it worked. We went to Fire Mountain and I ate a plate of vegetables (collards, brussel sprouts, glazed carrots, green beans = approx. 200 calories). Then I had 2 servings of BBQ Pulled Pork and 2 servings of Bourbon Chicken = approx. 600 cals. Plus 1 serving of Pinto bean = approx. 90 cals. All of this was about 890 calories, but the salt was in overload. My whole outing was a little over 1000 calories (maintenance is 1600). By the end of the day I ate 1400 calories. But approx 3000 mgs of salt. So, what is the lesson here--salt is my enemy. I find that when I overdo it on salt or fat, I will see a gain on the scale and a gain in inches. I feel that I was successful overall. Normally, holidays like this would cause me to see at least 10 pounds gained, but this time it was only a pound of water weight. What a motivator. I am on a program of watching my weight for another three weeks, then I am going to start sculpting and working on tightening it up. That means I have to put the scale away, because the inches will be more important, along with the nutrition. So, for 3 more weeks, you will be hearing about my maintenance adventures, then on to my new journey of a "fierce" and healthy body.
