The Sneaky Chef

The Sneaky Chef: How to Cheat on Your Man (In the Kitchen!): Hiding Healthy Foods in Hearty Meals Any Guy Will Love

Recommended by susano

WD's comment to Honey Bunny reminded me of this book I got a few years back from my insurance provider...it had been in the news here a lot and coincidentally showed up in my mailbox...I had forgotten about it until today.

It's called The Sneaky Chef by Missy Chase Lapine, and it's full of ideas for getting vegetables into the mouths of kids (both young and old) who don't like them. I tried a few of the recipes, but unfortunately, many of the dishes they hide stuff in are already things my picky eater doesn't like...it's hard to hide something in a dish that can have nothing touching anything else. Besides, she loves vegetables, so it's never been a real issue. However...I think it is time to give this another look.

Here are a couple examples: She gives recipes for make-ahead purees that you can add to things, like an orange one made with sweet potatoes and carrots, a white one with cauliflower and zucchini - both of which can be added to spaghetti sauces, etc.

It's something I think all you vegetable haters could get some use from, and even those of us who already love them could use - I never eat mac and cheese, but I love it, and I could enjoy it more if it's got cauliflower, zucchini, yams and carrots in it!

Who wouldn't like applesauce with blueberry, strawberry or cherry juice added?

You get the idea...
