| March 21, 2010, 12:32 pm I did it! - My First 5K | I did it. I ran the whole way, and even timed better than I thought I would. I am pretty slow to some of you veterans but did it in 35:19 which means my pace was 11:23. I thought I would do a 12:50 maybe.
YAY ME!
I cant wait for the next.
My kids both ran one as well. I put my 2yo in the 1/8 mile and my 7 yo in a quarter mile. What a great way to share fitness with your family. Pictures later I promise...
Thanks everyone for your support.

As of late, I've been irritated w/ myself for posting my column about the scale when I was just getting acquainted with the magical little thing. Here are some new things I have found you can do with it...
1 - Build a sandwich on top of it: Place plate, zero out. Place meat, zero out. Place cheese, zero out. Place veggies, zero out. Even weigh mustard, ... |
continue reading 12 comments March 21, 2010, 11:03 am after midnight | Midnight munchies are a major downfall for me. Nice & green all day, get out of work @ midnight & roll home by 12:30. If I go straight to bed, I'm fine. But often takes awhile to chill out & then the munchies hit. After making good choices all day, but being away from my kitchen for the 2nd half of it, my judgement goes out the window, and I'm red all over & its too late to do anything about it.
I realize we really should be looking at weekly averages here, etc, but it is psychological. Its like I ... |

I had to take off my glasses, rub my eyes, and read it again, but it is apparently true. Weight Watchers and McDonald's have teamed up to promote some of McDonald's fat, sodium, and calorie laden fast food as healthier food choices. At the present time this is only available in New Zealand, but how soon before it will it be coming to a McDonald's near you. Maybe the New Zealand movie houses need to start replaying the movie "Super Size Me".

continue reading 6 comments March 21, 2010, 10:03 am Had Fun, But Glad To Be Back! | We got back from our vacation on Thursday, but the vacation is truly over today. I look forward to returning to work tomorrow and get myself back on schedule. We brought back food from NM such as biscochitos (anise cookies), pine nuts, and my brother bought me a dozen tamales, and of course with that goes the chile colorado (red chile sauce). Those three foods alone can really mess up the clean green eating. I have spent all weekend finding similar foods to record or finding recipes. My uncle sent me home with two pumpkins from his garden. I made ... |

Dichotomy: division into two mutually exclusive, opposed, or contradictory groups: a dichotomy between thought and action.
When I dress, I often attempt a fashion dichotomy. That is, I choose clothes that would not normally go together. For example, in the photo below, I had a rather flirty dress in a shiny fabric paired with crazy sexy heels and a very casual denim jacket.
Three things that are not made to go together work. Well, they work in my opinion at least! They create a balanced ensemble in the differences. It may also mean combining a purchase from Target with one made at ... |

Our daughter turned two earlier this month and we had a birthday party last weekend with family and another yesterday with friends. In the week between the two we miscarried our baby. Overall we're doing okay. Our baby is in hands bigger than ours and sometimes things happen that we don't understand, but I'm a big believer that everything happens for a reason.
With all the planning and preparing for the parties I continued to eat right but didn't have time or energy with being pregnant to exercise on top of all that. Now I'm ... |

I even sent messages, asking Pam why I was being censored. Then I figured it out (Pam could see me on her screen). Duh.
Karyn justed consoled me by telling me that I was a different kind of a mess today than the day I ate the sweet cheeto crackbiscuits. If that ain't enough scientific evidence for why we should eat well, please read Kel's Post: Supplement vs. Food. ... |

March 20, 2010, 12:48 pm First Time making Homemade Chicken Broth | This morning I decided to take on a task I have been wanting to do for a couple of months now. I am making homemade chicken broth/stock. I cooked a little hen this morning, peeled off all the good chicken meat (to use for tetrazinni for tonight's dinner), and have put all the gross stuff into a pot with some new veggies (onion, garlic, celery, carrots, bay leaf) and it is now simmering away on the stove right now. I love the smell of a house with soup boiling away. MMM.
I am sooo excited to see/taste the outcome.

I started Nutrimirror about...2 weeks ago in a desperate move to lose weight. After only a few days I started realizing that I cared less about my weight and more that my body actually felt GOOD!
I've always felt really sluggish, tired and just...fat. I've only lost 2 inches around my waist and about 5 lbs but internally, I feel really great. I don't even have cravings for soda and sweets anymore! (which used to be a constant)
