| November 7, 2009, 10:34 am Purging: Any Takers? |
Part of embracing my now lifestyle is to let go of baggage. I have been taking one bag per week of usable stuff to a thrift store and/or listing on Freecycle.org and a contractor size bag of useless crap to the dump. I have been collecting for years ;-)
Today, I came across this Women's XL Leather Jacket in a lovely shade of Kermit Green. It is in near-perfect condition with a very soft, velvety leather and a lovely silky, green lining. It is much more flattering on than on the hanger... It's really a nice number if you are bold ... |

Since being on NM I feel a little bit like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. She finally learned that the magic really wasn't in the ruby red slippers, but was in her own heart's desire. Today, my heart's desire is to be the healthiest me possible. NM helps me to fulfill that desire by providing a great tool to use and a green road map to follow. Like Dorothy, I go through my fair share of trials and tribulations but ultimately as long as I follow the green path and I listen to what is in my own heart, ... |

So I have been modifying my meals to healthier versions for my family, I realized it is a lot of work trying to find meals that the family will like, we get in a rut and eat the same dinners all the time. So I decided to join Ellie's Healthy Living Guide... she is my nutritionist so to speak. She has a food log and exercise log in her program, but I am a NM lifer and I will use NM program for logging... so the purpose of joing her ... |
continue reading 2 comments November 7, 2009, 7:12 am Is 1200 a "magic" number? | I often find myself thinking, is 1200 calories everyone's magic number? I understand having a suggested calorie minimum, I think it is a great idea. Because of our human nature, a lot of times we think "the more the better" and in weight loss some people think the bigger the calorie deficit the better. Thank goodness all of us on NutriMirror know that is not true!
But here is what I am wondering. Do you think 1200 is everyone's magic number? I know over the months I have actually read people say they think they can not be starving because they ... |

------------------------------------------------
My suggestion for most people would be that they begin be selecting a weight loss amount/target date that reduce 500 calories from their weight maintenance calorie allotment. This leads to a sensible rate of one pound per week of weight loss.
Then, I would further suggest that 1200 number as the lowest number of calories to consume in a day. The National Institue of Health (NIH) allows 1,000-1,200 as the bottom number. NM uses the higer end (1200) as a conservative safety ... |

November 4, 2009, 9:39 pm updated Nov 4, 2009, 10:26 pm Adventures in Web Serving — Update | Well that was a fun day.
I don't even know how to begin to tell you all we've been through since about 6 a.m. this morning, but I'll just summarize by saying that we're finally on our new web server, a few days earlier than our much-delayed plan.
Whoopee?
Anyway, there are still problems, mainly this: Most of you can't log into the site.
As a temporary fix, you can try issuing a new password here:

One caution with this, though: If you don't have access to the email address associated with your NutriMirror account, this will send your new passwords ... |

Hello Jessica!
In case you are looking for food sources...
For extra vitamin D I have in my pantry a bottle of Norwegian Cod Liver Oil, Lemon flavored so really it is not too bad tasting! It is in the data base here and you can add it to your log play around with the serving and see what it says in your reflection analysis.
Look at the stats: just 1 tsp = 10 ug of vitamin D at only 45 calories and extra ... |

I tried commenting at your post but timed out. And, since it is a subject I think of often (most every day just because I live in the same world all of you do) and becasue I own the microphone, I thougt I'd respond more broadly. [Pictured above: a woman’s Halloween offerings to trick-or-treaters in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn.]
Falling in love is a feat that usually does not happen overnight. For example, I love to run but I didn’t always feel this way. In days past, I would run because I felt I needed the exercise in order to balance my consumption of all the wrong foods. Over time, being able to tolerate running turned into an occasional “runner’s high.” Now I find comfort in the sound of the rhythm of my feel against the pavement and the resonance of my steadied breath. I ... |

November 6, 2009, 6:27 pm Eating your excercise, uh, part 3, I guess.... | This has been on my mind as well. My question is a little different. I don't have a problem with eating my regular exercise calories. For instance, my daily 3 mile run is usually just under 300 calories, and most of the time I need them to get my intake allotment above 1200. BUT, when I do a long run or long bike ride on the weekend, sometimes I can burn 500-600 calories for a long run and 1000 calories for a long ride. Then I attempt to eat the calories, and I end up gaining a pound. It has ... |

I can award winners just fine. My problem is passing by the fifty other people that have earned a free shirt to name just one winner; especially since I'm sitting not more than thirty feet from the inventory.
So, I've recruited some help to take the pressure off. Three of your fellow members have kindly agreed to jump into the pressure cooker and make the slections instead.
