THANKSGIVING
"Today, I make my Sacrament of Thanksgiving.
I begin with the simple things of the days;
Fresh air to breathe, cool water to drink, the taste of food; the protection of houses and clothes, the comforts of home.
For these, I make an act of Thanksgiving this day.
I bring to mind all the warmth of human kind that I have known; my Mother's arms, the strength of my Father, the playmates of my childhood.
The wonderful stories brought to me from the lives of many who talked of days gone by when fairies and giants and all kinds ... |

What is wrong with me? I should be so happy. I am having trouble accepting my weight loss. My clothes all don't fit me and I've dropped several clothing sizes all at once.
I just dropped my wedding rings and engagement ring off at the jeweler on Wednesday to have them sized down because they are driving me nuts spinning on my finger and I'm afraid I'll lose them. It took me two weeks to get myself to drop them off.
To sentimental I guess. Perhaps that's my problem right there. ... |

The assistant said they don't notify if the test is normal (good sign), but that if I wanted to see my results, I could logon to a website, and she gave me the login instructions.
Here are my results:
Total Cholesterol (Normal is less than 200):
April: 262
October: 192
HOLY COW! A 70 point drop in 6 months!!!!
HDL (Greater than 35)
April: 76

November 20, 2009, 9:02 am Obsessing needs to stop! | For the past 2 weeks now I haven't dropped a pound.
All that after starting to exercise after 5 weeks of surgery and being sick recovery.
So, I've been exercising for 2 weeks 5 days 60 minutes each and staying green on my calories and all other areas.
I've been playing with the exercise logs and my activity level. I wonder if I don't have it all accurate. It's hard to know how many hours I spend in light activity and which exercise to enter on the logs when I have to guess which exercise matches the one I actually did.
I weigh myself ... |

Nope, I guess I just really felt the need to write so I added a Country Tart installment late last night: Inviting the Food Snob to Dinner
I do gripe about sneaky food manufacturers and the Corn Refiners Association and I should warn you that it isn't quite as smiley as perhaps I could have been. It is more of an answer to the many friends and family members that I have that comment about ... |

I was wondering if anybody here on NM is a vegan, either a recent one or an old hand at it ??
I read something so disturbing, so sadistic, so unbelievable in the Kathy Freston book, Quatum Healing that I know that being a vegetarian is no longer good enough for me.
I need to progress onto veganism, and while I can get a lot of info from books and the internet, was just wondering if there were any vegans here, that could lend me a bit of support/ideas/suggestions.....as I transition to a new way of eating and living.
Thanks !

My youngest brother was a true hypochondriac as a young kid through mid-teenage years. He had every illness or disease imaginable, from cancer, to diabetes, and aids, if you described an illness within his ears reach, then he had it.
When he was 13 years old, he was certain he had something wrong with his health. He requested to go to the doctor because he thought he had aids. My mom said she would take him, because she felt it was ... |
